Voice over IP is voice service over the internet. It shares network lines which can reduce costs when implementing infrastructure.

Why use VoIP?

VoIP can cut costs in several ways:

• Multisite locations- become extension dialing. Therefore, “Phone” (POTS) lines are not necessarily needed because the internet can be used to create an Ext. in the “remote” location.
   
• The existing network can be used for phones or New Construction. It now only needs one line for the phone and computer.

Why use 3Com?

3Com is a user friendly, easy to maintain phone system. Changes are able to be done by the end user. Extra features provided by a phone company are traditional business phone systems for a fee, and are built into NBX systems that save money. The systems can either be answered by a live attendant or using pre-recorded options.
